You neglected to provide us with the link to the movie in question:
http://www.archive.org/details/TheTerror_96

I see 3 video files there. The sizes are 542.5 MB, 318.6 MB, and 289.2 MB. You neglected to advise us which file you downloaded.

It seems that at least one of those files must be good, because two people have already reviewed the movie. My advice is to use mplayer or VLC to watch the film.

Tried all sizes. Nothing works.
And this still is the only film in Internet Archive that behaves like this.

Can you provide some details? What's not working? What player are you using, and can you provide a link to the item?

Here's the link

http://www.archive.org/details/TheTerror_96

I started by clicking on the image at the top of the page, which I normally do. This version played well until it stopped cold at 58 minutes. I then tried to download to Real Player. Once it was up there, it started fine. I fast-forwarded to the trouble spot, and it not only stopped, but made a grinding sound. I deleted this, went back to the original Int. Archive site, clicked on the picture again. This time it froze while downloading, and also froze my computer. I rebooted, tried again, same thing.
This morning I tried downloading all three of the files, without attempting to open up the picture on the site. None of these versions would play on Real Player, or Windows Media, or Quick Time. All said "unable to open."
I deleted it again, tried to click on the image on the site, again it froze before opening, again I had to reboot my computer to get out of the site.
I'm not going to bother any more. Besides, it isn't figure out the ending of the film.

If the image you are referring to is the Flash video, I don't have any problem in Firefox at the 58 minute mark. Can you try a different browser?

I'm not exactly clear on what you mean by "download." Are you able to save the file to your computer? Try right-clicking the link to the file, and choose "save link as.." or "save target as..", and save the file to your computer before playing it.

Firefox worked. I was able to see the rest of the movie. Thanks for the advice.

For what it's worth, I watched the 512Kb MPEG4 version last night using VLC in streaming mode with no problems.
